• Search area locations
• Community visibility settings

d. AI Vet Assistant Data

• Questions submitted to the AI Vet Assistant
• Images uploaded for AI analysis
• Pet information provided in AI-assisted requests

e. Communication Data

• Messages or inquiries sent to our support team

f. Notification & Device Token Data

• Push notification token(s), including Firebase Cloud Messaging (FCM) token(s)
• Notification preference settings
• Reminder and community notification delivery metadata

How We Use Your Information

We use the information we collect to:

• Operate, maintain, and improve the FurFolio app and services
• Link your pet profile to your QR tag and display it to scanners
• Send transactional communications (e.g., account verification, tag alerts)
• Send push notifications (such as missing pet alerts, QR scan alerts, reminder notifications, and community notifications) based on your preferences
• Respond to support requests and inquiries
• Analyse usage trends to enhance user experience
• Display pets in FurFam and community experiences
• Display missing pet reports and found pet reports
• Generate proximity alerts and nearby pet-related services
• Update missing pet recovery information
• Provide AI Vet Assistant responses for informational use
• Comply with legal obligations

Location-Based Features & Community Visibility

We may use location-related data to support FurFam and Discover Map participation, missing pet recovery, found pet reports, missing pet proximity alerts, vet locator tools, pet-friendly place searches, and search-area functionality.

Location Permission: Location permission is optional. If you deny or revoke location permission, some location-based features may be limited or unavailable.

FurFam & Discover Visibility: You may choose whether your pets appear in FurFam/Discover and may disable visibility at any time in settings.

Privacy Protections: FurFolio may display approximate, generalized, fuzzed, or otherwise modified public location data instead of exact real-time device location.

Discover Visibility Areas: You may select where your pets appear on the Discover Map. Your selected visibility area may differ from your current device location, and FurFolio does not continuously publish your exact real-time location publicly.

QR Tag Recovery & Scan Data

When a FurFolio QR tag is scanned, we may collect scan date/time, approximate scan location, scan reason, device information, and contact information voluntarily provided by a finder.

If a pet has an active missing pet report, new scan information may automatically update recovery information and report status details.

Pet owners may receive in-app or push notifications related to scan activity and recovery updates.

Lost & Found Reporting

Users may create missing pet reports and found pet reports. Community members may submit information, sightings, and other recovery-related updates.

Information submitted in these reports may be visible to other users. For privacy purposes, approximate locations may be displayed publicly instead of precise locations.

Exact report location details may be visible only to the report owner or other authorized users, depending on feature settings.

Users should avoid submitting knowingly false information.

Sharing of Information & Third-Party Services

We do not sell your personal data. We may share information only in the following limited circumstances:

• Service Providers: Third-party vendors who assist us in operating the service (e.g., hosting, analytics), subject to confidentiality agreements.
• Legal Requirements: When required by law, court order, or governmental authority.
• Business Transfers: In connection with a merger, acquisition, or sale of assets, your data may be transferred to the successor entity.
• Public QR Scans: Information you choose to display on your pet’s public profile (name, photo, contact info) is visible to anyone who scans the QR tag.
• Community & Recovery Features: We may share information with other FurFolio users when you participate in FurFam, create missing or found pet reports, use QR tag recovery services, or enable community visibility features. We share only information necessary to provide these features.
• Co-Owners, Sitters & Care Links: If you grant co-owner/sitter permissions or share a Care Link, authorized users and link recipients may view pet data according to the permissions or link access you provide.
• Third-Party Integrations: FurFolio uses third-party providers and platforms, including Google Maps, Google Places, Google Sign-In, Apple Sign-In, Firebase (including Firebase Cloud Messaging), AWS S3 storage, App Store / Google Play subscription billing, and AI service providers, to support app functionality.

Data Security & Data Retention

We take reasonable technical and organisational measures to protect your data against unauthorised access, alteration, disclosure, or destruction. These include:

• Encrypted data transmission (HTTPS/TLS)
• Secure cloud storage with access controls
• Regular security reviews

No method of transmission over the internet or electronic storage is 100% secure. While we strive to use commercially acceptable means to protect your information, we cannot guarantee absolute security.

Data Retention: We retain account data while your account is active or as needed to provide services and meet legal obligations. If you request account deletion, we delete or de-identify personal data in accordance with applicable law, subject to legal, security, fraud-prevention, and operational retention requirements.

Missing/found reports, QR scan history, and forum content may be retained for safety, moderation, legal compliance, and service integrity purposes, including backup and audit processes.

Your Rights

Depending on your location, you may have the right to:

• Access the personal information we hold about you
• Request correction of inaccurate data
• Request deletion of your personal data (“right to be forgotten”)
• Object to or restrict certain processing activities
• Request portability of your data
• Withdraw consent at any time (where processing is consent-based)

Where available under applicable law, you may also request details about categories of data processed, request a copy in a portable format, and request that we stop or limit specific processing activities.

User Controls, Shared Access & Notifications

Users may manage location-based and community features in the App, including the ability to:

• Disable FurFam visibility
• Modify visibility areas
• Remove missing pet reports
• Remove found pet reports
• Update report information
• Disable certain location-based features
• Grant or revoke co-owner and sitter access permissions
• Manage Care Link sharing
• Manage push notification preferences (including missing pet, QR scan, community, and reminder notifications)

Push Notifications: FurFolio uses Firebase Cloud Messaging (FCM) to deliver push notifications based on your settings and app activity.

Location Permissions & App Store Compliance

Location permissions are optional. Some location-based features may not function correctly without permission.

You can grant, deny, or revoke location permissions at any time through your device settings.

When location permissions are disabled, FurFolio may limit map discovery, proximity alerts, and certain lost-and-found workflows that rely on location data.

Children’s Privacy

FurFolio is not directed to children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe we have inadvertently collected such information, please contact us immediately and we will take steps to delete it.

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Updates will be posted on this page with a revised “Last Updated” date. We encourage you to review this Policy periodically. Continued use of FurFolio after changes are posted constitutes your acceptance of the updated Policy.
